Memoire: Triumph Over Adversity

by Medappa

Often, we come across, ordinary people live extraordinary lives and demonstrate how individuals can make a meaningful impact in the world. I wonder if it is the work of mysterious power of unknown that randomly choses “ordinary” faithful men and women to do the most important unfinished work. Medappa approached his life’s journey with zeal and mission, as if it was a call from above and as if there was no tomorrow, despite his humble beginning without much education. He gave all his energy and aspiration in schooling and learning as pre-requisite to achieve greater things to help the poor and the disadvantaged around the globe. His work in India as a village level development worker, director for the State of Minnesota, consultant/advisor for more than 15 countries, followed by 7 years of volunteer services abroad remain a testament to his commitment and devotion to help others over 60 years of public service. Throughout his journey, he never lost sight of important element to inspire other misfortunates to go after their dreams against all odds.

In Memoire: Triumph over Adversity, Medappa asserts that we are all capable of being extraordinary and redefines what it means to be just another ordinary person. He is living proof that extraordinary is there for all of us irrespective of our economic or social status. This book is a vibrantly alive, candid, and compelling memoir of a son of a poor farmer in Kodagu (Coorg), India, an intensely restless soul, ever in search of the next adventure, driven to making the world a better place along the way.
